For eighteen years, everyone in Veyra City has obeyed one rule: Nobody crosses Sector Nine. The government says the district was sealed after a deadly contamination wiped out everyone inside. Its streets vanished from public maps. Its entrances were buried. Its residents were declared dead. Then infrastructure cartographer Nia Calder discovers something impossible. Sector Nine is still consuming electricity. Water is still flowing beneath its walls. And somewhere inside the forbidden district, a biometric signal belonging to her brother—dead for five years—is still active. Nia crosses the boundary expecting ruins. Instead, she finds an entire city filled with people Veyra insists are dead. Thousands of erased citizens have survived behind the wall, stripped of their identities and hidden from the world while the city above quietly depends on the labor of people it refuses to acknowledge. And the deeper Nia investigates, the worse the truth becomes. Sector Nine was never an accident. Its history was rewritten. Its people were deliberately removed. And the system everyone trusted to keep Veyra alive may not be the one responsible for the lie. With former perimeter enforcer Cassian Rook at her side and her supposedly dead brother hiding secrets of his own, Nia must decide how far she is willing to go to expose a city built on people who officially do not exist. Because once Veyra discovers the dead are still alive, the wall will no longer be enough to contain them. And this time, the people who created Sector Nine intend to make sure nobody survives to cross it again.
